Of the many things we Innkeepers get to spoil our guests with, some of our favorites come from the combination of butter, sugar, and flour…yes, we are talking about muffins, scones, coffee cakes and more! Each morning our guests awaken to sweet aromas drifting from the kitchen of the 1906 Lodge, where the Innkeepers are preparing something delicious! Susan, Denese, Lori, and Alyssa take pride in preparing breakfast each morning where creativity is encouraged, letting guests experience each Innkeeper’s personal touch! You just might be lucky enough to try Denese’s Raspberry Danish, Lori’s Banana Bread, Alyssa’s Lemon Bars, or Susan’s Scones, to name a few. 88 years of Coronado Flowers

If you missed out on last week’s festivities, don’t worry…we have the whole scoop right here! Last weekend marked the 88th Annual Coronado Flower Show. Since 1925, Coronado has boasted the largest flower show under white tents in the West. This year’s theme was “Ticket to Ride,” transporting viewers and judges through a spectacular display of floral perfection.

From Azaleas to Zinnias, Coronado’s flower show features hundreds of the most beautiful and exotic varieties. Judging categories include Bonsai & Hon Non Bo, Container-Grown Succulents, Roses, Herbs, and Hanging Plants…just to name a few. The second division of the show celebrates the creative use of flowers in floral design. Categories include Miniature & Small Designs, Picture Boxes, and Table Designs; each with their own themes and awards. Coronado home fronts are also in the running for the coveted first place blue ribbon and title “Best in the City!” In the weeks approaching Flower Show weekend, judges distribute prize ribbons to green thumbs island-wide, which homeowners proudly display in their front windows!

Spa Tubs = Relaxation and Romance!

January 12th, 2013 Posted in Hotel Information, Specials | No Comments »

Jump Start Your Getaway!

Want to jump start your relaxing getaway at the 1906 Lodge?  Choose a room or suite with a spa tub.

Get Relaxed

What makes a spa tub so relaxing?  The hydromassage of warm water stimulates your body to release endorphins which reduce stress naturally.  Plus, studies show it lowers blood pressure, stimulates your immune system, and helps you fall asleep.

Get Romantic

What about romance?  Our tubs are generously sized, 42” wide, and as long as 78”.  That means 2 people can enjoy the tub together!  If you are looking for the longest tub, choose from our Ocean Boulevard, Star Park, Tea Garden, or North Island SuiteWe provide herbal bath grains, dimmable overhead lighting plus candles (battery operated) to help set the mood.

Our spa tubs are special!  We chose tubs that are pipeless, which means that the jets swirl only the fresh water you put in the tub.  The jets are removed and sanitized each day.  Our tubs are also 4 times quieter which means you can enjoy peaceful reflection.

Make it Special

Allow us to really set the mood with our Some Enchanted Evening Package for only $249.  We’ll prepare your suite with a trail of rose petals, the fireplace burning, a relaxing CD playing, your tub filled with warm water and surrounded by dozens of candles.

Two dozen roses will adorn the room, and champagne and chocolates will be waiting for you next to the spa tub.

Instant romance! Just give us the time you want to arrive and everything will be ready.

Call us today and let us help you plan your next Coronado Beach getaway!

Chez Loma – Coronado’s French Bistro

December 21st, 2012 Posted in Hotel Information, Live Like a Local, Local Coronado Activities | No Comments »

1906 Lodge Innkeepers Try New Restaurant

The Innkeepers at the 1906 Lodge recently had the opportunity to experience one of Coronado’s best dining experiences. Under new ownership and beautifully refurbished, Chez Loma is a French Bistro that operates out of a Victorian home transformed into a restaurant off Orange Avenue.

Wonderful Ambiance

It genuinely feels like you are stepping into someone’s elegant home for dinner when you arrive at the restaurant. The interior is welcoming yet romantic, the perfect spot for anyone looking to spend a special night out.

We were greeted by Chef Alex who introduced us to the menu and even assisted each of us in our wine selection (the Bistro has an extensive wine list). The service proved to be exceptional.

Delicious Food

Then came the food, of course! We started with the Sea Scallop from the “To Share” menu, which was prepared with sashimi, chipotle vinaigrette, and extra virgin olive oil. Delicious!

The Spinach Mache Arugula Salad (pictured) was light and fresh, and definitely a favorite. And for the entrée, New Zealand Salmon prepared with sorrel sauce, roasted tomatoes, crushed potatoes, and olive oil; a hit with us!

Of course everything was presented artfully and looked too beautiful to eat. But then how could you resist?

Walk from the 1906 Lodge

Chez Loma is just a 5 minute walk from The 1906 Lodge. Call us today to book your stay and we’ll make your dinner reservations for you!
